ECUADOR OILFIELDS.
LORD MURRAY'S MISSION.
ENTIRELY SUCCESSFUL,
" MONSTROUS CONCESSION." By Telegraph— A ssoeiation—Copyright. (Received September i, 11.15 p.m.) London, September 4. In connection with Lord Murray's visit to Ecuador on behalf of British oil con>inies, the text of the concession shows that Lord Murray has secured the right to utilise any public petroleum lands discovered in Ecuador for the next 40 years.
The concession is entirely gratuitous except for the promise to expend £100,000 upon the discovery and exploitation of oil fields within the next decade.
Lord Murray has also secured the right to expropriate private lands upon terms stipulated by an- engineer approved by the Government.
The Guayaquil newspapers describe the concession as a monstrous one.
