LONG LIST OF CASUALTIES. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. Paris, September 3. A gas escape occurred in the cellar of a cafe in the industrial quarter of the city to-day. A waiter went to search for the leak with a lighted candle, and a violent explosion followed.

The unfortunate man was at once killed. The floor collapsed, and the customers, the proprietor and his family were precipitated in a struggling heap into the cellar. The house next caught fire, and one of the occupants was killed, while 20 were injured.
