OATMEAL VERSUS MUTTON.
Sir,—"What has made Scotland great?" asked Mr. G. M. Thomson, in the House of Representatives on Thursday night. "Oatmeal," said Mr. Forbes. ''Yes, oatmeal," 'said Mr. Thomson. Scots have always been anxious to get away from Scotland and become Canadians, Americans, Australians, or New Zealanders. When they get comfortably settled away from the land of their birth, enjoy three good meals a day, and don't have to live on oatmeal, they tell us all about Scotland's greatness and Scotch oatmeal. But they are very careful to keep away from Scotland, and dine sumptuously on colonial mutton. Colonial.
