ROSS GOLDFIELDS. LOWERING THE WATER. The following telegram was received from the Ross Goldfields mine, Reefton, yesterday :— '" Pumping 1850 gallons per minuto, including 900 gallons from the Cas : sius. Tho pressure has been reduced to 95ft. Putting up another bore from No. 2 cross drive." WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION. The following cablegram has been sent to the head office, London, of the Waihi Grand Junction Gold Mining Company: — "We are now crushing 350 tons per 24 hours tho extraction is 345. The decrease of output is duo to the collapse of an electric motor. 'This damage is already repaired. No. 1 shaft is now down 1119 ft. Royal Lode: No. 6 level, drive east, 279 ft, drive in broken country; No. 6 level, drive west, 363 ft, width of reef sft, footwall exposed, low grade. George Lode: No. 6 level west, 173 ft, width of reef 2ft 6in, both walls exposed, value £1; No. 6 level, rise No.' 1 risen 73ft, width of reef 4ft, hangingwall exposed, value £2 10s. Empire Main Lode: No. 6 level east 563 ft, width of reef 4ft Bin, footwall exposed, value £2 65." MOUNTAIN KING. Operations in the Mountain King mine, Kuaotunu, have been confined to stoping during the week. The stppe south of No. 1 rise, over No. 4 -level, is small. Ihe last stope in this block is now in progress, and colours of gold were seen during the week. In No. 5 level, the stope north of the main rise was extended 10ft; the reef is small, but looks well. _ Work on the New Find consisted of driving north and south of the lode.. The reef is heavily mineralised. NOTES. At the intermediate level in Bremner's Freehold mine, Coromandel, Tiernan's reef has been split up into stringers during the past week. The south No. 1 level on the reef was extended sft for the week. In this face the reef is 12in wide, and continues to show a little gold in the stone, but this is not of a payable nature, lhe low level on Tiernan's reef is along 45ft. At this point a break crossed the drive, and has cut off the reef. It will now be necessary to drive east and west to locate the reef again. There is a big flow of water from both sides of the drive where tho break was met with. Operations on the Golconda reef, No. 1 level, Hauraki Reefs, Limited, Coromandel, are still in hand,, In the stope over the drive, main level face, a fair amount of quartz) showing gold in a payable quantity, was taken out. In the drive going west the reef continues to show gold, and a little picked stono is occasionally saved from the general dirt. The battery was cleaned up for a return of 1640z 3dwt of melted gold, valued approximately at £480. This was obtained from 12 tons of general dirt and 851b of picked stone.
