WESTLAND'S GREATEST NEED.
SUBSIDISED SEA SERVICE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] • Hokitika, Tuesday. The chairman of the Westland County Council (Mr. Joseph Grimmond), who recently made the journey from Hokitika through South Westland, to Otago, reports to the council that the greatest want of South Westland settlers is continuance of the subsidised sea service. Settlers are deeply concerned at its stoppage, and unless some arrangements for sea connection are soon eome to, residents will be starved out, as it is the only means of receiving supplies. He also urges the council .to make another strong appeal to the Government for expenditure on public works of grants voted last session for road extension beyond Waiho.
