FRENCH ARMY BILL.
OPPOSITION OF RADICALS. SOCIALIST DEMONSTRATION. OFFICERS ASSAULTED. 'By Telegrrapli.— Association.—Copyright. London, May 19. M. Caillaux (ex-Premier of France), in addressing' a Radical meeting to-day, expressed his opposition to the * three years' system of military training. • It was undeniable, he admitted, that the international situation demanded further efforts, and that more care was necessary in the training of reserves. ' Some system of military education for the young should be devised. ■* •• . - - The Radical counter proposals provide for two and a-half years' service, with the incorporation of conscripts twice a year. Socialist agitators organised a soldiers' demonstration in Toul- ; near Nancy, : to-day, against the three-year service period. A major and a lieutenant who re- : monstrated were roughly handled, but were rescued by civilians, who thrashed 15 of their assailants. The cavalry finally dispersed the meeting. ,
