I • A LABOURER'S CLAIM. A claim for the return of chattels, damages, and a week's wages in lieu of notice, amounting in all to £5 9s 6d, was made by Harry Watkin Harris, labourer, of Ponsonby. Defendant was Henry Davis, of Ponsonby. carpenter, and late employer of plaintiff, for whom Mr. J. R. Lundon appeared. Defendant was represented by Mr. Endean. After evidence had been heard an arrangement was made for plaintiff's effects to be sent to Auckland, and for defendant to pn,y £2 of the amount claimed. On Saturday the matter will again be mentioned, with a view to reporting progress as to the return of the chattels, consisting of clothes and groceries left at the house of defendant. MOVING A HOUSE. An action between G. Crutcher, builder, and Mrs. C. Keating, of Parnell,, was heard. This was a claim for £25 - 15s, alleged to be owing for work done by {>laintiff Crutcher in moving a house beonging to defendant. Part of the moneys were paid for the job, but the sum claimed was withheld on the grounds that the builder, when moving the' structure, had so re-erected it that jt infringed on a neighbouring property. The actual foundations did not encroach, but the eaves overhung 12in, and defendant contended that she was thus rendered liable to her neighbour. " It's a matter between the builder and the architect,'' said His Worship, "and vou must not let things go on like this. Why don't you move the house again?" "You can't move it," said the architect, who was also in Court, " it's 60 years old, and it would fall to pieces." "I risked my life shifting it last time," chimed in the builder. His Worship suggested again that it was a matter between the architect and the builder, and adjourned the case.
