LONG-DELAYED DUEL.
SWORD COMBAT IN PARIS.
Paris, May 10. ■• ■; A sword duel, arising out of a quarrel which occurred three years ago, was fought yesterday between H. Berger, son of a deputy, and George Breittmayer. Both men were noted fencers, and the former sustained a severe wound in the chest. -'.':>
Owing to the French law prohibiting secret duels the combat was witnessed by 50 well-known Parisians and a large body of reporters. Breittmayer afterwards visited his wounded opponent, and a reconciliation was effected.
A few weeks ago Berger quarrelled with another man, who challenged him, :. but under the code he could not accept until he had met Breittmayer. The second duel will take place when Berger recovers. '•••■..';•;
