The ladder compartment in the Saxon mine, Thames, has been lined to a further distance of ; 40ft below; the No. 6 level, : leaving a further 1 60ft to complete. The gas has been very troublesome, and, has ; retarded speedy progress. . ■ Regular inspection of the tunnel and bore hole casing in the Thames 'Deep Levels is being made. The superinten-.
