-I I 1 NEWMARKET. FINANCES OF THE , BOROUGH. THB Newmarket Borough Council met last evening. Present: Kir. David Teed (Mayor), Messrs. Fookes, Donaldson, Jaffrey, O'Meara. Leek, McOoll. and Whittome. Tout waited upon the council in furtherance of a petition to the Harbour Board from 50 residents of the locality for a wharf at Victoria Boad. Birkdale,. The deputation asked the council to make the approaches to the proposed wharf, as it was believed this would considerably strengthen the petitioners* application. Consideration was deferred until next meeting. Mr. G. W. Mcßea was appointed waterworks pumping engineer out of 51 applications.
