, ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
[ST TELEGRAPH.—KRESS association.] Wellington, Wednesday., At the Coachbuflders' Conference to-day, the following officers were elected .—President, Mr. J. Bett (Palmerston North); vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Qrmiston White (Dunedin), F. Rons© (Wellington); secretary, Mr. G. Dash (Waimate); executive committee, Messrs. James (Blenheim), T. Childs (Stratford), W. Atlrin (Auckland), Whittaker (Hamilton), G. Faulkner (Napier), and one member to be elected to represent ChristchuTch.
The conference also considered the question of the freight charged by the Railway Department on Australian hardwood from ports to inland towns. It was stated that the charge was 60 per cent, more than for locally grown timber. The conference, decided to wait on the Minister for Railways to urge the abolition of the surcharge. Several papers were read by delegates on matters affecting the trade.
