GAMING ACT PROSECUTION.

[ DETECTIVES CRITICISED. , [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] , Wellington, Friday. i Two men, Richard Eager and Samuel Jarvis, were charged„at the Magistrate's i Court to-day with keeping a common ' gaming house, and eight others with being ' found on the premises. Two detectives were subjected to a rigorous cross-examination by counsel for the defence. One admitted he bad no . search warrant and no right to take away a pack of cards found there. Counsel also objected to alleged collaboration by the detectives in the preparation of their notes. The magistrate dismissed the charges against eight defendants who admittedly were not found on the premises, but were stopped after they left the house, and rei served his judgment in the cases of Eager . and Jarvis.
