MOTORING.
AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION'S RUN. Considerable interest is being taken in the Auckland Automobile Association's [ run to Papatoetoe this afternoon, and it „ is expected that fully 25 cars will make i the trip. Leaving Customs Street at a : quarter past two o'clock, the cars will ■ proceed via Onehunga • and Manger to Papatoetoe, where a picnic has been ar- : ranged near McLachlan's farm, at the ; back of the orphanage. ' ; NOTES AND COMMENTS. ' A racing car, the property of Mr. Allen ; Boone, was the cause of some interest in Queen Street during the week. The car is an 80 horse-power National, and the. guar-' i anteed speed on a track is 120 miles. In America it won a six days' race in 1 Indianapolis. Mr. Doone recently at- > tempted" to break the record from Adelaide ; to Sydney, but an axle on (lie car broke wher within 40 miles of the latter ciy. •An 1 average pace on fair roads of 80 miles per, i hour can be raised.
