When cases of delirium tremens are sent to the hospital the cost of their .maintenance will be borne by the Government. The Inspector-General (Dr. Valintine) in a communication to that effect to the Wellington Hospital Committee also added that the question as to whether the full cost would be borne by the Government when permanent arrangements had been made for provision for such patients, had been referred to the Minister. The Hawera Acclimatisation Society has decided to purchase another 50 brace of pheasants. Those that were obtained some time ago are reported to be thriving well. •"They were a good investment," said a prominent officer of the society.
