ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

GAME FARM AND HATCHERY. Tut. monthly meeting of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society was held last evening. Present; Mr. W. H. Hazard (in the chair), and Messrs. J. Noakes, J. Gillet, and Dr. H. Chatfield. Regarding the site of the propped newgame farm and hatchery, it was decided to inspect a site some few miles from Henderson, The society has several sites under consideration, but up _to the present has not come to any decision in the matter. To secure a -suitable . for a game farm is an easy matter, the difficulties being to acquire a ate to serve equally well as a fish hatohery. The curator of the hatchery and game farm at Tapapa submitted a stock-sheet for the week ending March 1. The report showed that the society had 764 birds, including 495 pheasants and 27 mallard ducks, on hand. The fish on i«vnd numbered 84,400. The president, in commenting upon the fact that the forthcoming shooting season was to be an open one, said that tho usual varieties of native and imported game wcuid "be shot. In view of the fact that last season was a close one for pigeons, it was decided to write to the Minister for Internal Affaire, recommending that pigebns mould be shot this year. The chairman stated that he had paid a visit to the Mangapeehi Creek, and had fcund that it ' contained . sawdust and pieces of timber, the refuse from a sawmill in the -»icinity. The matter was left in the hands of Mr. Hazard to deal with. _ On the motion of the president, Messrs, (H Partridge and J. J. Walklate were elected to fill the places on the council rendered vacant by the death of Mr. Iv J. Parry, and the resignation of Mr. H. M. Philupson. The resignation of Mr. Phillipson, who is leaving town, was received with expressions of regret.
