BIG BUTTER EXPORT.

INCREASE MAINTAINED, VERY SUCCESSFUL SEASON. FORTNIGHT'S SHIPMENTS. ___ Butter has come forward in good quantity from the Auckland province for export for the fortnight ending to-morrow. A total of 8000 boxes is to be shipped to Vancouver by the Marama on Friday, and 12,000 boxes are to be taken by the Corinna to Wellington on Saturday for transhipment to the steamer Arawa, which leaves for London shortly. The fortnight's total exoeeds that of the previous fortnight by 4808 boxes, owing to the fact that a quantity of the butter available for the fortnight ended February 27 was held over to be taken by the Marama to Vancouver. With the consignments to be taken by the Marama and Arawa, the present season's export of butter is brought up to 318,637 boxes (159,318£cwt), an increase of 50,822 boxes (25,411cwt) over the export for the corresponding period of last season. "318,637 267,815 The latest cablegram from London shows that the butter market is firm, New Zea* land butter being in good demand owing to the loss of the Turakina's shipment. Choicest New Zealand is quoted at 120s per cwt. Calculating on this basis the valuo of the 20,000 boxes (10,000cwt), comprising the present fortnight's export works out at £54.500 f.0.b., Auckland. For the corresponding fortnight of last season 11,996 boxes (5998cwt) of butter were exported from Auckland. The market quotation was then 127s per cwt, so that the value for the consignment worked out at £34,788 Bs., the increase; in value for the present fortnight thus being £19,711 12s. A total of 800 crates of cheese is to be consigned to London by the Arawa. This brings the total export of cheese from the province for the present season to 7416 crater, compared with 7777 crates for the corresponding period of last season.
