SOME CAMP INCIDENTS.
"BAGGING" AN OFFICER.
The breaking-up of the Coast Defence Troops' camp at Narrow Neck, 011 Saturday morning, appears to have been attended with some lively incidents, which were in marked contrast to the good order that prevailed amongst the men during the week in camp. It is stated that on, Friday night some members of the Artillery Company paid some objectionable attentions to' an officer of the Defence Troops, which was resented by the officer s men. Later, it is alleged, a number of men of various companies, made determined efforts to " bag " one of the officers that is to put him in a bag— that on account of their action the officer was placed all night under the protection of the guard. In the efforts to "bag ' the officer some commotion seems to have prevailed, and several of the tents were pulled down at about two o'clock on Saturday morning. In the subsequent clashing that took place, one of the men was struck with a mallet, but was not seriously injured. Officers, when approached on the subject, stated that nothing of a serious nature took place. An inquiry regarding the incident? is to be opened to-day by Colonel G. W. S. Patterson, Coast Defence Commander.
