BIRKENHEAD WATER SUPPLY.
.WORK ALMOST COMPLETED.
The contractors for the Birkenhead water supply, Messrs. Mays and Gordon, have almost completed the work, and state that the test of the mains proved very satisfactory, and that in the course of another week everything will" be in readiness to turn the water on. The service pipes will be put in, as required, with expedition. In the meantime residents requiring a temporary domestic supply have been catered for by means of stand pipes from the reticulation mains. By-laws in connection with the water supply have been prepared, and the suggested charges for domestic and extraordinary supplies will come before the council at an early date for a final decision.
