BUSINESS MAN CHARGED.

WILL APPEAR AT AUCKLAND

Tub case of Frederick John Craddock,the business man who was arrested in Auckland last week on a charge of having stolen a number of the records of the Craddock Hardware Company, Limited, of Christchurch, and who was remanded to appear at Christchurch, was referred to before Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M.. at the Police Court on Saturday. Chief-Detec-tive MeMahon requested that the accused bo remanded to appear at Auckland on Wednesday. The police, stated the chiefdetecJive, had received a wire stating that the directors of the company were desirous that the case should be tried at Auckland. They were on their way up here for that purpose.

Upon His Worship raising the question of the heavy expense -which would attend a committal at Auckland, Mr. McMahon stated that the information had been laid by the directors, and not by the police. When proceedings came on, it would probablv be discovered that the matter would be fixed up, so that there would be no committal. .

Mr. Singer, who appeared for Craddock, stated that should there be a. committal, he would have no objection to tho case going to Christchurch for trial. The accused was accordingly remanded to appear at Auckland on Wednesday, and was released on bail.
