BARMAIDS IN POMPEII.
Roue, February 15. Professor Spinazzol*, who is STrecting, on behalf of the Italian Government, the new excavations at Pompeii, found on uncovering the ruins of a private bar of the day an inscription on the walls showing unmistakably that it was the custom in the days of P'ompeiian splendour for women to be employed to serve drinks.
