Their visit to' Whangarei was marked by a number of deputations from various school committees in the district. ),' Mr. John Wilkinson, chairman of the Whangarei Si&ool Committee, drew the board members' attention to an. overflow of drainage from the public hospital, which menaced the health of the children attending the Horahora Public School.. Mr.' B. Y. Kerne ban, chairman of the Marsden-Kaipara Hospital Board, who was in attendance, asked that the Board of Education should make a monetary grant
in connection with a drainage scheme the Hospital Board contemplated entering into, in connection with the Whangarei Borough
After a long discussion the Board of Education, representatives expressed the opinion that they could only support such a scheme to the extent of the amount of actual benefit that the .'school received.
