EXPORTATION OF RAMS.
SHIPMENT TO MONTE VIDEO.
A trial shipment of 75 rams left Auckland yesterday, per s.s. Rotorua, for Monte Video. The rams consisted of 70 stud and flock Eomncys, and five stud
Lincolns. They were bred by Messrs. Woodward Bros. (Mount Albert), Archibald McNicol (Clevedon), and Adam Collie (Manurewa). The shipment was arranged by Messrs. Alf. Buekland and Sons!
This is believed to bo thd only shipment of stud rams from Auckland to America, Should it prove a success, it is anticipated that a further order will be received for another shipment of 200. Much trouble was experienced over the shipment, as the rams had first to be passed under inspection, and various certificates had to be obtained. Pens were erected on the steamer's deck for the reception of the rams, and every care will Bo taken of them by'the ship's butcher on the voyage. The expense entailed will approximate £8 per head.
