WIMMERA FROM SYDNEY. The local office) of the Huddnrt-Parker Company ! is advised that the steamer Wimmera cleared Sydney at 1 p.m. on Wednesday for Auckland direct. She has on board 84 saloon and 74 steerage passengers,, also 1100 tons of cargo and two horses for this port. The Winunera is due here on Sunday afternoon. HUDDART-PARKER STEAMERS. The steamer Victoria, which was detained at Dunedin for repairs to her boilers, did not leave the Southern port until Wednesday afternoon for East Coast ports, Auckland, and Sydney. She is due at Wellington this morning, and is to leave there to-night, working Napier and Giaborne tomorrow, and arriving here on Sunday evening. The Victoria sails at 530 p.m. on Monday next for Sydney direct. The UUmaroa is due at Wellington from Lyttelton this morning. She leaves Wellington this evening for Sydney direct, where she is duo on Tuesday next. SAX FRANCISCO SERVICE. The R.MS. Aorangi arrived at Wellington shortly after noon yesterday from San Francisco, via way ports —time-table date. The vessel brought a large cargo of American merchandise, 2CO tons of which is for. Auckland, which will I e forwarded by the Monowai, due hero on Thursday, December 12. The Aorangi continues her voyage from Wellington to Sydney this evening, and is due at the New South Wales port on Tuesday next. The R.M.S. Moana arrived at Wellington from Sydney early yesterday morning. She is timed to leave Wellington at 5.30 p.m. to-day for ' San Francisco, via Rarotonga and Papeete, being due at the American port on Thursday. December 26. The R.M.S. Tahiti is scheduled to leave San Francisco on Wednesday next for Wellington and Sydney, via wav ports. Captain Hooper, of the New Zealand training'hip Amoktira, has advised the Marine Department that when his vessel was in Int. 43dcg south, and long. 174deg. east, he sighted, and examined, wreckage, which comprised an Oregon pine mast, to which were attached wooden hoops, floating vertical cbout 12ft above the water. The diameter of the mast was about 18in. The wreckage appeared to have been in the water about two months. There was also a boom attached to tho end of the mast. As the wreckage was sighted nearly 30 miles off the coast, it was thought that the ocean current would soon remove it. Captain Hooper stated that this was probably ihi> mizzen n.n=t of the barquehtine Wanganui, which put into Wellington some months ago dismasted. CABLE STEAMER RETURNS. The cable steamer Iris returned to Auckland yesterday morning from Doubtless Bay, where, after laying 52 miles of cable, she linked up the tw> ends of the line, making the circuit from Montreal to Auckland complete. The Iris has gone ba?k to her anchorage in the stream off Devonport. She will probably sail for Norfolk Island on December 21, to transfer the Pacific Cable Board's staff to Auckland.
