THE COMING EXHIBITION.
COMMITTEES ACTIVELY AT WORK. -«lue Industrial, AgripxJ{r u \r ? l^and > .Minjng ExMfeiti«l..^syfedi- > 'will bo iiTfull swing\ in Auckland a year hence, is attracting general interest throughout the Dominion. A typical letter has been received by Mr. B. W. Buttle, vice-president of the- executive of the Exhibition Committee, from the- editor of the Taranaki Herald (Mr. W. J. Penn), asking if there is any possibility of a member of the executive visiting Taranaki, in order to arouse interest there in this coming Exhibition. Mr. Penn states that there are several industries in the Taranaki district -which would be readily represented if advances were made by the Exhibition executive, and if a member of that body were to pay a visit to the district it would help matters materially, and would probably be the means of ensuring a combined Taranaki display. Mr. Penn concludes by stating that if some one from Auckland does attend, he will bo glad to give any assistance in his power. The suggestion is considered to be a good one, for while overtures hare been made to the big centres, little has been done in the smaller towns, some of which could, it is believed, furnish excellent exhibits. The matter will bo considered at the next meeting of the executive. A meeting of the Exhibition Refreshment Committee was held yesterday afternoon, at the office of the * secretary (Mr. W. R. Holmes). There were present:— Messrs. G. Elliot (chairman), A. B. Roberton, J. Menzies, and Captain Johnston. The meeting was called forth© purpose of considering tenders for supplying refreshments to the tea kiosks, cafe and restaurant, but after considerable discussion it was decided to return all the tenders received as being unsatisfactory. It was resolved to hold the matter of further tenders in abeyance for a few months.
Tlio Sports Committee -will meet at 3.30 to-day. in the Chamber of Commerce, the Agricultural Committee to-morrow at 2.30 p.m., and the Building and Lighting Committee on Monday at 2*50 p.m. On Tuesday the Finance Committee will meet at 2.30 p.m.. and the Ground Decoration Committeo at 3.30 p.m.
