THE FURNITURE TRADE.
It will be remembered that the conference recently held between the employers .and the representatives of tho Auckland Furniture Trade Workers' Union, with tho object of having the conditions of work in this city put on the same basis as those in other parts of New Zealand, ended without any definite arrangements being > arrived at. Yesterday, the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. T. Harle Giles) "invited" the employers to meet, the workers' representatives. The employers, however, refused to meet the men, and no conference could be hold.
