The Yorkshire Post states that the American Association purposes hiding an invitation tourney to decide the championship of the world at Cedar Toint next July. The title has been vacant since the death ot Richard Jordan, Edinburgh, last year. It is said that Robert Stewart, Kelty, who held the championship of Scotland five ■ time*, having been offered his travelling and other expenses. has decided to accept the invitation. The first prize offered is £70. It ib somewhat doubtful, however, if such a tourney would decide the title, as James Feme, who held the championship before Jordan, may assert his claim to the honour, which has always been played for in set matches. Scottish players generally would pi-efer a straight fight of 40 games bet, reen Feme and anv other claimant rather than that it should bo decided in tournament fashion, whether it ue on the all-round or knock-out systems.
