WOMAN X-RAYS MARTYR.
DEATH-BED HONOURS.
Mlt.e. Weidkiiann, the first woman to fall a victim in the cause of duty to the effects of X-rays, has just been decorated with tho medal of honour by the French Minister of tho Interior. Mile. Weidemann joined in 1898 the laboratory of radiography at the Salpetriere Hospital, where some of the first experiments were carried out in the use of the X-rays. Her hands were soon attacked by X-ray dermatitis, and last year both her arms had to be amputated in a vain effort to stop the disease. It was only a temporary cure. At the hospital Mile. Weidemann has to be kept continually under morphia to allay her intense suffering, and very little hope can ba entertained of her recovery. • The medal was bestowed upon her »a ; ebe lay in bed.
