MOB TRIES TO LYNCH HIM
A RACE WAR FEARED.

Jack Johnson (the world's boxing champion), who is now under arrest, narrowly escaped being lynched by an infuriated mob to-day, when it became known that he was charged with the abduction of a white girl. Johnson is now closely guarded by the' police. A race war is feared in consequence, of the ill-feeling that has been generated.
