CONTROL OF THE PACIFIC.
LORD OENMAN'S PROPHECY.
A COMBINED BRITISH FLEET,
By T^lesraph.—Press Association.—
Melbourne, October 15. The Governor-General (Lord Denman) reviewed and entertained the Canadian cadets- at luncheon to-day. In a speech he said that Canada and Australia were keenly interested in the maintenance of British power in the Pacific. It was not too much to hope that within a few years an Australian, possibly an Australasian, fleet and a Canadian fleet would be ready to co-operate with the British fleet in any emergency arising out of an order to maintain the British position in the Pacific.
