MOTOR CYCLIST INJURED.
COLLISION WITH A CART. A collision between a horse and cart driven by F. A. Hayward and a motor cycle ridden by Robert Cochrane, of Weststreet, Newton, occurred in Wellingtonstreet yesterday morning, which resulted in Cochrane being seriously injured. ' The driver of the cart was going down Wellington-street when the horse becamefrightened at the approaching motor cycle and swerved right in front of it, with the. result that the cycle struck the. cart on the left side between the wheel and the step. Cochrane was thrown from his machine, and when picked up was found to be badly . hurt and unconscious. He was attended to by Dr. McMaster, and then taken to the hospital, where it'was found that he had sustained a fracture at tho base of the skull. The motor cycle was badly damaged, but tho cart to more fortunate.
