FRUIT ON EXPRESS TRAINS.
A QUANTITY GUARANTEE. [BY TELEGRAPH.— SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Monday. Representations were recently made to the Minister for Railways by the Waitemata Fruitgrowers' Association with a view to securing improved facilities for the transport of fruit from Auckland to Wellington. The Minister has now offered to attach a waggon to the Main Trunk express for the carriago of fruit on condition that the association guarantees consignments amounting to five tons daily.
