TAKAPUNA BAPTIST CHURCH.
FOUNDATION-STONES LAID.
Tele foundation-stones of the new Baptist Church to be erected at Milford Road, Takapuna, were laid on Saturday afternoon in the presence of over 100 visitors and residents of the district.. The site was gay with bunting, Sir. H. 11. Smeeton, piTjsidenfc of the Auckland Auxiliary of the Baptist Union, acting as chairman. The stones were laid by the Rev. Knowles Kempton, president of the Baptist Union of New Zealand, and Mr. W. N. Rushbrook. Brief addresses were delivered by the Revs. Knowles Kempton and E. A. Kinvood, and Messrs. 11. M. Smeeton and W. N. Hushbrook. Two handsome silver-mounted puriri mallets were presented for the stonelaying ceremony by Mr. G. C. Garlick. One of the stones was engraved end presented by Mr. Bouskili, The church will cost about £600, exclusive, of furnishing, and will be opened early in December. The sito on which it stands was generously presented, by Mr. W. N. Rushbrook. The collection in connection with the ceremon}' resulted in £13 13s being contributed. A congratulatory message was received from the Rev. R. S. Gray, secretary of the Baptist Union of New Zealand."
