THE C.E.M.S. MISSIONER.
A FINAL WORD TO MEN.
WOMEN AND THEIR HOME LIFE.
The final services in connection with the visit, of Rev. J. E. Watts-Ditch field (C.E.M.S. -missioner). were held yesterday. Two services were conducted in the Chamber of Commerce hall between noon and two o'clock.
Tiip, speaker dealt, with the story of Daniel at the first- service, a story, lie said, which should do much to strengthen' men in their endeavours to.be Christians. He traced the story of Daniel, and told how the latter went to Babylon, but nevertheless did not foreake God as many a man might be tempted to do on going to a new country. Not- even in the face of J death had Daniel failed in his faith. It was men wlio were as steadfast as Daniel who were wanted to-day. Strength had come- to Daniel from prayer, and his faith in God, and men of to-day must be made to realise this wonderful power of God, and must not fail so miserably in their Christian life. >■ ■ ■ In the course of his second address, Mr. Watts-Ditchfield laid stress upon the fact that it was the duty of every Christian to bring other men to Christ. It rested with the men, women, and children whose hearts had been touched by Christ to carry the good work forward. No great ability was needed, but it was absolutely necessary for a man, if he was to live up to his professions of Christianity, to commune with Christ, for it was possible to influence others only as a man was influenced himself. Christians of to-day, however, scarcely ever epoke of their religion, even in their homes. The true Christian, he said, was not meant to strive only to save his own soul, but should do all in his power for his fellow men.
The visitor delivered an address to women in the concert chamber of the Town Hall yesterday afternon, when lie pointed out the main attributes a Christian woman should possess. She should be very bright, happy and joyful; religious gloom"was not wanted. Woman's greatest opportunities were in her home, and it was there that, her Christian character had the most influence. She was the foundation upon which the greatness of men .was built up. To fulfil her part in the scheme of life, woman must- learn the power of prayer, she must pray about everything, no matter how insignificant it might appear.
