THE LATE COLONEL ABBOTT.
. MEMORIAL TABLET. A han'dsojik tablet, erected in memory of tho late Colonel Abbott by tlio Auckland Garrison Officers' Club in St. Mary's Cathedral, will bo unveiled at a special service to be held, to-morrow afternoon. The service will be conducted by Bishop Crossley. In addition to the troops, thero will be present at the service a large number of prominent citizens of Auckland, who have been invited to attend. The 'Empire Veteran's Association, and all excontingenters who served with the deceased officer, have also been requested to be present. Colonel Heard, director of military training, will represent General Godlev, who is indisposed. The arrangements for the function are being- carried out by the executive of the Garrison Officers' Club., of which institution Colonel Abbott was for some timo chairman. The tablet has been erected at the couth-east wall of the Cathedral, which has been specially, reserved for military memorial tablets.
