Massey asked that the licensing' law provision which requited that 60 per cent. of votes should bo cast in favour- of local >y" r option or national prohibition be repealed, and that a bare majority should bo made If? sufficient to secure the determination tfoffs? licenses or the restoration of . licenses, ~as ? the case might be. . They also asked " that the period of four years which must ■ elapse under existing Jaw before' national prohibition . would' come into operation ;■? .should be considerably reduced. It is' pointed out that- at the last elec--Lo-tion, the total vote for national prohi- ; bition was 259,943, , and against national'? prohibition 205,661, leaving an actual majority of 54,282. The Prohibition,"party j have, therefore, declared war; against the three-fifths which they contend is "undemocratic, - unjust,"- • and - intoler--li-able. 1 ' , ' ; •; £
