BIRTH AND DEATH RECORDS.

(Received September 12, . 9.55 p.m.) Sydney, September 12. The Commonwealth Statistician, in his report for 1911, states that the increase in population was 143,624, which is a record. The births numbered 122,193, which is also a record. The birth rate was 27.21 per 1000, tho highest for the past 11 years.

The illegitimate births numbered 7074, or 5.79 per cent, of the whole, the second lowest in 10 years.'

The deaths totalled 47,869, or 10.66 per 1000. Tho deaths under one year of age were 68.49 per 1000 births, the lowest on record.
