The collier Ngnhere berthed at the Queenstreet Wharf On Saturday morning to load a. quantity of railway material. She sailed in the afternoon for Greyinouth direct.

Tho collier Whangape, due at Auckland this afternoon from Westport, is to berth at the Hoo-son-street Wharf to discharge.

The Tvscr liner Star of Scotland was to have left Lyttelton last Saturday for Napier, Gisborne, and Wellington to complete her Homeward loading. She is to leave Wellington on or about the 25th inst, fof London, via Las Palmns.

The aux. schooner Iluia, after discharging her cargo of timber at Lyttelton from Kaipara, is to bo taken on the slip" for examination in connection with a proposed purchase by the Nobel Explosives Company.

Late on Saturday night the U ion Company's chartered steamer Myra Fell cleared for Limestone Island. She loads a quantity of cement. there for Sydney, and will subsequently load another cargo of coal at. Newcastle for Auckland. The Northern Company's recently-acquired steamer Manaia (late Rotoiti) is expected to leave Wellington this evening for Auckland direct. She. is expected hero on Wednesday.

The Typer steamer Indralema is expected to leave Sydney on Wednesday for Auckland, in continuation of her voyage from New York. She has 1200 tons of cargo to discharge at this port,

The Union Company's • ccastnl steamer Squall arrived from Gisborne" and Tola?o Bay at S p.m. on Saturday. After landing 140 sheep at Orakei, she berthed at No. 2 jetty. ' The Squall sails this afternoon for Tolago Hay "and Gisborne.

!Tho Wanaka, which arrived from the Bluff, via. ! way ports, earlv on Saturday morning, berthed at I the Railway VTharf at 9 a.m. to discharge her cargo of produce. She sails for Timaru, Oaniaru,

and the Bluff to-morrow afternoon. The Navua sailed at 1.15 p.m. on Saturday for Gisborne, Napier, and Wellington. Owing to rough weather on the coast she omitted the usual call at Tokomaru Bay. On arrival at Wellington to-morrow she will tranship her Lyttelton and Dunedin passengers and cargo to the Mokoia, The Navua then proceeds to Westport to load for Auckland.

Tho Union Company's new cargo steamer Karamu, similar in type to the Kowhai, arrived at Hobart last Friday from England, and will load hardwood for Dunedin. Subsequently sho will bo placed in the New Zealand coastal service.

Mr. 0. DiilneT has joined the Mokoia aa second engineer.

Mr. Scott, late of the Rotoiti, has joined the Haupiri as chief officer, vice Mr. R. J. Fowler.

Mr. W. S. Hvslop, late of R.M.S. Makura, is now third officer" of R.M.S. Tahiti.

Dr. W. E. Bavis, late of R.M.S. Zealandia, is now surgeon on R.M.S. Tahiti.

The local agents have been advised that the White Star liner Atbenio left Capetown, in continuation of her journey from London to Wellington, on Tuesday evening last. The Atheuic is due at Wellington about September 5.

Despite rumours to the contrary, the ex-Grange steamers Oswestry Grange, Ripplnghajn Grange, and Everton Grange, have received the names allotted them some time ago. The only vessel which has not yet been rcchristened is the Drayton Grange, now in New Zealand waters.

The Union Company's steamer Wairuna left Newcastle on Saturday coal laden for the Bluff, Dunedin, and Oamaru.

The Taviuni is to leave Westport to-day with a cargo of coal for the Bluff and Dunedin.

The Maitai is due at the Bluff this morning from Dunedin. She sails from the Bluff this evening for Hobart and Melbourne.

The Maunganui left Sydney on Saturday afternoon for Wellington direct.' She is due at the Southern port on Wednesday morning.

The barque Rnna left, port at three p.m. yesterday in tow of the tug Lyttelton for Whangaroa. The- sailer will complete her loading of sawn timber at the northern port for Sydney.

The Monowai la to leave Wellington this evening for Napier. Gisborne, and Auckland. She is due here on Thursday morning.

The Star of Australia arrived at Dunedin yesterday from Lyttelton. After discharging a quantity of general cargo from New York, she proceeds to the Bluff to complete ber discharge.

The Kowhai left Greymouth on Saturday afternoon coal laden for Onehunga. She is "due at the West Coast port this morning, and sails tbi* afternoon' for Greymouth direct, where she loads a cargo of timber" for Oamaru and Dunedin.

The Haupiri left Wellington on Saturday evening for Auckland direct, with a cargo of transhipments ex the Manuka from San Francisco. She is due here early to-morrow morning, and is timed to sail at seven a.m. on Wednesday for East Coast ports and bays.

Amongst, the latest charters announced is that of the barque Marjorie Craig, which has been fixed to load a cargo of coal at Newcastle for Auckland.

Another 'smart steaming performance was recently put up by the new Tyser steamer Makarini. when she accomplished the distance from Brisbane to Sydney in the good time of exaetlv 33 hours, notwithstanding the, fact that the vessel was slowed down for several hours on the passage,

The W'airau Harbour Beard have notified the Marine Department that 3 large mooring anchor, marked by a wood buoy, has been laid by the steamer Blenheim at the mouth of the Wairau River, bearing north, distant ono mile from the flagstaff, and south-east half a mile from the mouth of the river. TTSEB LINE SAILINGS FROM LONDON.

Information ha? been received to the effort that the steamer Indrabarah was to have left London on Aufruet. 15 for Melbourne and Sydney only; also that the steamer Nerehnna is' to he despatched from the Homo port on August 23 for Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Napier, and Wellington.

TURiKINA AT HOBAET. The New Zealand Shipping Companv's steamer Turakina arrived at Hobart yesterday afternoon from London, ria Teneriffe and Capetown. The Turakini will probably leave Hobart to-dav for Wellington, where she should arrive on Thursday efening or Friday morning.

HARDWOOD FROM BUNBUHY. Cable advice received from Bunbury states that the Union Company's new steamer' Katoa, 2400 tins, left the West Australian port on Saturday /ast for Wellington and Auckland. She is bringing a full cargo of hardwood for the ports named, and is due at Auckland early next month.

WIMMERA FROM SYDNEY. The Huddart-Parier steamer Wimmera arrived at Auckland at 7 o'clock last night from Sydneydirect, after a slow passage of over four days. The vessel berthed at the new Queen-street Wharf, where medical inspection was carried out. The purser reports that departure was taken foni the New South Wales port, at 3 p.m. on Wednesday last, fine weather being experienced throughout the passage to arrival. The Wimmera sails to-morrow afternoon (or East Coast and Southern nor*.?.

MATATUA LEAVES SYDNEY.

The steamer Matatua, running under the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company's Eastern Canadian service, left Sydney on Saturday last lor Auckland, in continuation" of her voyage from Montreal. She is due here on Thursday morning, and after discharging 740 tons of cargo, proceeds to Wellington, Lyttclton, ami Dunedin to put out the balance.

KAIKOURA IN PORT

The New Zealand Shipping: Company's steamer Kftikotira arrived ftom Lyttelton at '6 a.m. on Saturday, and berthed .-ft. the Railway Wharf to load general cargo for London. 1 She sails at noon to-day for Wellington to complete her loading. The Kaikoura leaves the Southern port finally for London, via way port?, on Thursday afternoon.

FAST STEAMING BY VICTORIA. An early arrival at Auckland yesterday morning was the Huddart-Parlcer steamer Victoria, from Southern and Kant Coast potts, the vessel berthing at the Queen-street W'liarf shortly before 8 a.m. The Victoria made a smart passage from Gisbome, which port she left at 11 a.m. on Saturday, thus making the run to port in the good time of 20i hour?, at an average speed of 14.', knots. In continuation of her running, the Victoria sails at 5.30 p.m. to-day for Sydney direct.

THE BARQUE WHINLATTER luformttion has been received in Auckland that the Norwegian barque Whinlatter arrived at I'ioudye (New Caledonian) on June 22 from Ahipura Bay. It will be remembered that the Whiulaltcr arrived at Ahipara Hay, on the west- coast, in May last, from Hio tie "Janeiro, and subsequently sailed, minus, several members of her crew. " She wan to load chrome ore at, New Caledonia for Glasgow, and has probably sailed by this time.

WHAKATANE FROM MONTREAL. At 4 p.m. on Saturday the steamer Whakalnne, running under the auspice* of the New Zealand Shipping Company's Eastern Canadian service, arrived at Auckland iron) Montreal, via Melbourne find Sydney, and berthed at (he Queenstreet Wharf. She has DOC tons of general' merchandise, to discharge.
