MOUNTAIN KING. £296 FROM 40 TONS. At the Mountain King mine. Kuaotunu, 40 tons of quartz, have been crushed and treated for a return of 950/. of gold, valued approximately at £296.

NEW SYLVIA. The following telegram was received from the manager of the New Sylvia mine, Thames, after the last call on the Stock Exchange yesterday :—" No change to report." Volunteer.— level going north from the rise in this section has been extended 10ft for the week, making a total distance from the rise of 43ft. There is littlo change to report here, the reef being still very small. A fault is now crossing the course of the lode and -what effect this will have on the ore body remains for future, developments to show. BENDIGO G.M. CO. It is reported that tho directors of the Bendigo Gold Mining Co- are engaged in negotiations which may lead to a resumption of activity in tho mine, and battery. No definite particulars are available. THAMES WARDEN'S COURT. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Thursday. The regular fortnightly meeting of the Thames Warden's Court was held to-day. Most of tho applications before tho Court wero adjourned to the next Court day. Tho only applications granted were those of Mr. W. J. Cornos for six months' protection for the Goldwin special claim, and the Victoria Gold Mining Company for six months' protection for the Victoria special claim. The latter was finally granted, subject to certain conditions relating to tho . upper lovels of the mine being open for tributers for periods of 12 months, and similar to tho conditions imposed when tho previous protection was granted.
