BUSINESS DONE YESTERDAY. NcmvrrHSTAxmNG iho briskness experienced on the Stock Exchange during the early part of (lie week,' yesterday's business was again {of considerable dimensions. Transactions in the higher priced mining stocks were made, in addition to wiles caused by a continued activity in New Sylvias and Waitangis. Several thousand shares in each of the two last named properties changed hands during the day, New Sylvias opened in the morning at la, advanced to Is 3d, and later eased to lid. Buyers than took shares at prices up 'to Is 2d, and the market closed with sellers at Is Id, buyers at la. Waitangis sold at from 2s to Is lOd, but tinned later to 2s Id, closing at 2s Id and 2s for sellers and buyers respectively. Talismans were distinctly firmer, witli business at 39s 6d, 39s 9d, and 40s, buyers quoting 39s 9d to sellers at 40s. Waihis closed with unchanged values, a sale being made at 33?. Waihi Grand Junctions were a point better. Fair-sized parcels were bought n't 21s 6d and mora were wanted at this figure, sellers offering at 21s 9d. Occidentals were bought at Is Id, and Crowns at 2s 6d.

Standard stocks wero rather dull yesterday. Kauri Timbers (con.) changed" hands at 16s lid and Auckland Trams (ord.) at 245. Auckland Gas (old issue) were offered (ox div.) at 67s and Auckland Trams (pref) also ex div., were inquired for at 22s 9d. •
