OBTAINING CHEAP FISH.
A LYTTELTON SCHEME,
['BY TCLKGIUPH.-H3WN CORUESPONDEX'I'.] CHiu.sTcniritcir, Thursday. A DETERMINED effort is being made by some of the fishermen in Lyttelton to establish a co-operative scheme, which it is intended shall eliminate tho middleman entirely, and bring the catcher of fish into direct communication with tho buyer. Cr-ptain W. Doridant, an experienced fisherman, speaking to a reporter, said that tho scheme, had evolved from discussions among several fishermen, who were dissatisfied with the present system. It was intended to endeavour to dispose of a number of bonds to the public. Each bond would have a face value of 20s, and the company would guarantee to supply the holder of the bond with fish at cost price, plus the cost of distribution. It would mean that there would be. a great reduction in price. It was hoped to dispose of 500 bonds at 20s each.
