VALUELESS CHEQUES.
NINE CHARGES ADMITTED. Nine charges of obtaining money by valueless cheques on the Bank of Nev Zealand at Hawera, the money involved amounting to £52 10s, were preferred against Oscar Middleton Hawson, an accountant by profession, before Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., at the Police Court yesterday. During tho six months over which his operations extended, the accused defrauded tradespeople at Auckland, Pukekohe, Hastings, Gisborne, Dargaville, Hamilton, and Tauranga, the amounts ranging from £5 to £15. Presumably conscience-stricken, the accused gave himself up to tho police and confessed. He admitted the charges against him,' and was accordingly committed to the Supreme Ccurt for sentence.
