Dr. Mannix, who is 48 years of age-, is a native of Charleville (Cork County, Ireland). He received a portion of his education at St. Patrick's College at Maynooth, and for the past 21 years he has occupied various positions at the college. He was appointed professor of mental and moral philosophy there in 1891, and professor of theology 'in 1894. He was afterwards vice-president of the college for a term, and in 1903 he received hie present position of president.
