The heavy rain which fell on Monday sight and early yesterday morning had caused; tho Middtemor© goif links to be in a condition unfavourable for the continuation of the Auckland provincial ladies' golf championship tournament. ■. Nevertheless; several matches were played, and the golf was interesting. Tho results of the- second round of Iho championship contest were; —Mies, G. Gorrie boat Miss M. Cotter, 5 up and A; Miss It. Gorrie beat, Miss Pay ton, 3 'and 2; MissAlison beat Miss McLean; 8 and 6; and Mrs. D. Hay beat Miss W. Cotter, 2 and 1. In flic second round of (he junior cup competition Mrs.).XL Richmond beat Mm Coleman, 8 and 6; Miae Gordon beat Miss. ! Hull, 6 and 5; Miss Barsltaw beat Miss !P. Gorrie, 4 and 3; and .Mite", A. Carr beat Miss Thorp, 3 and 2. The putting,, approaching, and driving competitions \vere postponed on account of the- condition of the links. 'i.*ie driving competition will take place 'on Friday .motnmg, and tho putting and approaching competitions on Friday afternoon. ' If the weather is favourable and the links' are open for play the third round of tho championship will bo played this morning. Miss G. (torrie will plav Miss E. Gorrie, and Mrs. Hay .•will play Miss. Alison. In the junior cup contest Mrs. Richmond will plav Miss Gordon, and Miss Barstow will play Miss Carr. It is. also intended to hold a bogey singles match this afternoon. A continuous putting competition is beitig held during the week.'
