YACHTING. THE SEASON FINISHED. With the coming of the cold, rough weather the yachtsmen of Auckland are be ginning to lay up their boats for the win ter. Several yachts hare been dismantled including the Viking, chartered by His Er cellency the Governor, and others have been hauled up on the beaches, while bul few of the others will remain in commission much longer. The true yachtsman likes s '.bit of a blow and some sea," but he alsc likes some sunshine with it, and the wintei brings not only cold but squalls and seas too heavy for small yachts to enconctei without much danger. And so the thoughts of yachtsmen are turning 1 to football hockey, golf, and other winter games. file racing season has finished, and then is not much pleasant cruising to be obtainec now. Much activity has marked the opera tions of the various clubs, and most of then nave gone through big programmes with sue cess. Only on one or two Saturdays during the season has the weather been really un pleasant for yachting.
