TRAIN AND 'BUS SMASH.

TWO HOUSES KILLED.

[by TELEGRAPH.— CORRESPONDENT.] Whang Friday. A collision took place at Ruatangata railway, crossing, just beyond Kamo, shortly before 10 o'clock this morning, between tho outward-bound train to Hikurangi and one of Mr. G. Griffith's 'buses. The 'bus, which was driven by a young man named Jeffreys, had pulled up at the crossing to wait for the train to pass. Three horses were attached to the vehicle, sind ono of them, shying- at the approach of tho engine, forced the other two horses on to the metals, and the accfdent followed immediately. - The 'bus was damaged, and two of the horses were so shockingly injured that they had to bo destroyed. The third horse practically escaped injur}'. Jeffreys had a narrow escape. Ho was thrown clear of tho engine, and received some abrasions. There were no passengers in the 'bus.
