MELBOURNE, March 24.
W. Murray, the Melbourne athlete who has been selected to represent Australia in the walking race at the Olympic games, lowered the world's walking: record for 3500 metres to 14m. 40 2-ss. . . . [The distance named, which is equivalent to 3327yd5, is that set for the walk at the Olympic games. The previous best record for the distance was 14m 555. established by G. B. Lamer, the famous English walker, at the Olympic games of 1908. in London.J
