THE VANCOUVER MAIL.
'ARRIVALi OF THE "MARAMA." The Canadian mail steamer Marama, with European and American mails, arrived at Auckland early yesterday morning from Vancouver, via way ports, after a fineweather passage. During the voyage the passengers indulged in the usual deck games and sports, while two.very successful fancy dress balls were held, one in the first saloon before reaching Suva, and the other in the second saloon after leaving Suva, - ■ v ;•'•■>;■ "j:.. 'T&-J The Marama brought 231 passengers in all classes, 60 of whom landed at Auckland, the remainder proceeding on to Sydney. The vessel also brought a full, cargo of Canadian merchandise, about 530 ] tons being for Auckland and other parts of New Zealand, and the balance for Australia Sixty-eight first, second, and third-class passengers joined the vessel at Auckland for Sydney.
The mails by the steamer totalled 401 bags, 200 bags being dealt with at Auckland, while the remainder were despatched South by the Main Trunk express last night. On Friday morning the R.M.S. Zealandia arrives at „ Auckland from Sydney. She will load a large quantity of butter and general cargo here, in addition to the usual stores for the ship's use and for Island ports. The number of passengers so far booked for the voyage is very satisfactory. The Zealandia is scheduled to sail at three p.m. on Friday for; Vancouver, via Suva, Honolulu, and Victoria (8.C.).
