THE FRANKTON AFFRAY. HEAVY SENTENCE IMPOSED. [Br TEI/EGRATH.— CORRESPONDENT] Hamilton, Monday. At the Supremo Court this morning, before Mr. Justice Edwards, Axel Snertinge camo tip for sentence on the charge of having unlawfully wounded three men at Frankton. His Honor, in addressing the prisoner, eai'd that it. had been shown that accused was a man of sober habits, but yet it was not safe for him to be at large, as at any time he might again stab people without provocation, as he did in at least two of these cases. On any one case he was liable to imprisonment for life, but the sentence would bo three years for each of the three charges, the sentences to be cumulative, and on the expiration of theso accused would bo detained for reformative treatment for a period not exceeding 10 years. John Hugo Hansen, who had pleaded guilty to a charge of breaking and entering, was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment with hard labour. Herbert Pyko camo up for sentence on a charge of blackmail.
