[FROM - OUR OWN- CORRESPONDENT.] London-, January 26. Mb. T. Buckley, chief electrician to the New Zealand Government's Postal Department, is returning to Wellington by the Moldavia. Professor A. W. Bickerton and Professor Benham were among the guests entertained at the Lyceum Lecturers' dinner last week, Lady Stout being one of the 12 hostesses.

Mr. James Hill, who has recently returned from a tour of New Zealand, recounted his impressions to the Bradford League of Young Liberals, and designated Auckland as the finest city in New Zealand.

Since the departure of the San Francisco mail the day before yesterday, there have been only three callers at the New Zealand Government —Mrs. S. P. Hawthorne (Wellington), Miss Fanny G. Sealy (Nelson), Mrs. J. P. Shaw (Dunedin).

Mrs. and Miss Seddon sailed from Liverpool by the Argyllshire ou Tuesday, the vessel having been delayed a day or two after the date assigned for sailing. Mrs. and Miss Seddon speni their last week in England with frfaods in St. Helens, Mr. Seddon's birthplace.

The High Commissioner has received a letter from the Prince of Wales, and the Princes Henry, George and John, through their tutor (Mr. Hansell), thanking him for a gift of some books on New Zealand, which were presented by Lieutenant Knox when he lectured at Sandringham on New Zealand.

Captain Seddon, who has been attached for some months to the Leicestershire Regiment, which forms part of General R. H. Davies's brigade at Aldershot, will sever his connection with the regiment next month, and will be attached for experience to the Army Service Corps. Major T. W. McDonald, of th New Zealand Staff Corps, commanding the school cadets, has arrived in England, and will go into training- forthwith.

The P. and 0. e.s. Moldavia left Tilbury to-day for Australia, carrying a fair number of passengers for New Zealand ports. To Auckland the following have booked:—The Right Hon. the Earl of Morton, the Countess of Morton and maid, the Hon. Charles Douglas, the Hon. Ronald Douglas, the Hon. William Douglas, Miss H. Cronin, Mrs. Carbines, Miss M. H. Lofthouse, Mr. W. Mawson, Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Quartley, Miss A. Wilson. For Wellington: Mr. T. Buckley, and Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Green. Th« Misses Mary and May Wilson have booked to Lyttelton, and Mr. Alexander B. Monro to New Plymouth.

Messrs. Colin M. Gilray, S. N. Ziman and C. W. B. Littlejohn (one-time of Nelson) were three Rhodes scholars who last year took the degree of B.A. The last-named, who was Victoria's 1909 Rhodes scholar, and who is at Now College, took a firstclass in .natural science (physiology) in the final honours school. Mr. Alan MacDougall, 1909 New Zealand Rhodes scholar (New College) was admitted last year to read for the advanced degree of •B.Litt (English literature). Littlejohn rowed for his University against Cambridge. The annual report mentions further that two scholars (one American and one colonial) failed in the B.C.L. examination.
