Captain Jamieson sailed the vessel under the shelter of Farewell Spit, But a S.E. •'' gale coming on, he put to sea. The ; : •tearaer Alexander sighted her, and took the Defender in tow, bringing her down . to Westport this morning. A jpaxo propeller is being obtained from ' Hokitika, and will be fitted here.
